Celebrities Are Switching Gears and Entering the Film Industry

We all love seeing our favorite celebs succeeding. Whether it be making music, playing basketball, or acting in the best movies. It’s also interesting to see those celebrities working outside of the industries they are professionals in or outside their element.

Recently it was announced that basketball star Lebron James will be the Executive Producer of a new Netflix series about Madam CJ Walker. Madam CJ Walker became the first black female millionaire in history by creating a line of hair care products for people of color. She is famously known for creating the perm, the first hair straightening formula used by women of color. Netflix announced the spectacular news at the Television Critics Association press tour. The series will be based on the book On Our Own Ground by A’Lelia Bundles who is Walker’s great-great-granddaughter and will also be a consultant to the series. James will be producing the project along with his production company, SpringHill Entertainment and Madam CJ Walker will be played by the talented, Octavia Spencer.

Another announcement was made for a new show that is coming to HBO very soon! Drake will also be stepping into the film industry as an Executive Producer for the upcoming series Euphoria. Future the Prince who is part of the OVO crew will be one of the producers as well. The main character, Rue will be played by the young and multi-talented, Zendaya. Euphoria is about how high school students navigate through drugs, sex, trauma, love and so much more. The show is an adaptation of a 2012 Israeli series. Both Drake and Zendaya posted announcements on Instagram getting fans of the stars pumped for its release.

Both series have yet to release a date on when they will start filming or when the shows will air but stay tuned for more updates!
