R&B singer SZA is dropping a new clothing line soon and it’s for a great cause! There is so much going wrong in the world it seems, one of which is our lack of care for the environment. So many aquatic animals specifically are harmed or killed every day due to pollution and trash being thrown into their habitat. SZA has decided combat this issue and use her star power to shine a light on it and promote more sustainable habits. Recently she posted a photo of herself on Instagram wearing a sweatshirt saying “Sustainability Gang” in rainbow lettering mimicking her Ctrl album tour logo. The same day she posted a hoodie with the same phrase accompanied by a caption which read, “Who tryn save da ocean 👀 @ctrlfishingco”.
Though many have speculated that the clothing line is in collaboration with Champion due to both pieces of apparel having their logo on them, SZA clarified to a commenter that the collaboration is not exclusively with Champion. Instead, the clothing used in the collection will be thrifted and repurposed which is a sustainable method of creating clothing that has recently gained popularity.
SZA received an abundance of immediate support from fans praising her for being an “Environmental Queen” and building an eco-friendly brand. Eventually, pictures of other products began to surface on Twitter which included t-shirts and tanks with the phrase “Puck Flastic” embroidered on them with sea creatures. If you were wondering how proceeds from the collection would actively help promote the agenda of being more environmentally conscious, you aren’t the only one. On one of SZA’s posts teasing the line a fan asked “Ok, but how much and does the profit go to an organization dedicated to sustainability??” SZA was quick to assure him all of the profits would go to organizations fighting for this cause.
There is not a launch date for the clothing line just yet, but we look forward to SZA releasing more information hopefully soon!
