Let’s take it back in time: the Three-Fifths Clause (Article I, Section 2, of the U.S. Constitution of 1787) states, “declared that for purposes of representation in Congress, enslaved blacks in a state would be counted as three-fifths of the number of white inhabitants of that state.” – blackpast.org
Slaves, our ancestors, were used for labor, property and currency. All humanity was stripped from them to the point where, for the purpose of taxation & legislative representation, a compromise was reached between the northern and southern states and they were to be counted as 3/5ths of a person.
We claim that we are human beings, equal and liken to each other and will no longer allow the diminishing of our humanity or worth. We are 5/5ths of a person, each individual creating a beautiful and complex whole.
This community is for all of us, as beautiful, melanated & unique as we are, this will be our home. A platform to celebrate our success and innovations, promote entrepreneurship, highlight artists of all medium and build relationships. Welcome to the 5/Fifths family!
